The flood of 2008 was an event that I hope
we don't have to experience again in our lifetime. It let's us know how
insignificant we are in the whole scheme of things on this earth. We were very
fortunate to have damage only to the basement and back parking area.
The
dining areas of the restaurant itself were mainly spared from any damage. We would like to thank everyone that participated in the cleanup
especially our great staff, the Iowa River Power family, that worked diligently
over the period to get us back up and running.
The following 3 pictures show a calm almost surreal view of the restaurant at the height of the flood. The first picture is a view from the north showing the river just barely below the parking curb the second picture is a view from the west looking down 5th Street. The third picture is a shot from the north again showing the extent of flooding on 1st Avenue and over the Crandic Tracks.
Again, Thank you Coralville and Iowa City volunteers for your help over these trying times and for your continuing patronage.
David and Danise Petsel
